Magic describes the either divine or learned abilities to control the essence of elements or have influence over unforeseen properties of nature, worldly or otherworldly. The typical properties of magic comprise of control over elements for either offensive of defensive purposes, some mages also develop abilities to heal or to apply other such effects to themselves or others. In rare cases, mages have the capacity to develop traits passed down through bloodline, or gifted by divine entities. These mages can often become the target of large global organizations that may wish to use them for power or profit. Typically mages have control over one type of element or trait and it is rare for them to learn other types, those who do usually become exceptionally adept in the art of magic.
